The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of over 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.
NCIS is one of several DoD criminal investigative and intelligence organizations headquartered together at the Russell-Knox Building (RKB) aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. Known collectively as Military Department Investigation Agencies (MDIA), the individual organizations include NCIS, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
This position is part of the IT Technology Operations division within the NCIS ITD organization and performs the following responsibilities/functions:
Provides Tier 3 system and application support, including user support as well as business/technical application support.
Supports Microsoft Windows server technologies (Server 2012/2016/2019) operating systems, Exchange, DNS and Active Directory, and virtualization platforms
Supports domain admin team with tasks as identified
Produces and updates technical documentation
Troubleshoots and coordinates problem resolution with application admins
Coordinates system and application software updates
Assists in the development and maintenance of internal standards and controls in accordance with customer policies and procedures
Tests, installs, and documents requested programming support
Ability to work with a diverse population and convey technical information into easy-to-understand concepts
Ability to take lead on troubleshooting non-routine system/service disruptions
Other related duties as assigned
5 years supporting of workstations, servers, printers, networks
Active use managing Microsoft domain services to include AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS/identity (concepts)
VMware, experienced in working with virtual machines in and out of the vSphere environment, general virtualization concepts
Required: TS clearance is required to start, must be eligible to obtain SCI-level adjudication to start
Required: Current DoD 8570 Level II (ex. Security +) to start
