GDIT is HIRING a Curriculum Developer to support the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) located in Silver Spring, MD. 

As the traumatic brain injury (TBI) Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center promotes state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI.

The Curriculum Developer will be responsible for the design of educational curriculum that accompanies classroom, distance learning, and multimedia educational projects related to traumatic brain injury for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC). Products may include patient, family, and caregiver outreach and coordination with groups outside of the DVBIC Network. Work is performed with a high degree of collaboration and independent work under the supervision and direction of the Education Materials Section Chief.

What You'll Be Doing: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain classroom-based and virtual courses for TBI- related subjects.
  • Design, develop and revise on-the-job (OJT), instructor-led (ILT) and web-based (WBT) training materials, including presentations, training guides, simulations, quick reference cards, knowledge assessments, and skills assessments using standard instructional design models and practices.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to insure curriculum development aligns with learning objectives and audience needs.
  • Develop evaluation criteria for the vetting of technical, vocational, and accelerated learning training programs.
  • Create design documents that describe business needs, audience needs, high level tasks, delivery content, supporting materials, and evaluations/assessments.
  • Based on adult learning theories, develop instructionally sound learning objectives for delivering training across multiple platforms.
  • Select teaching strategies using appropriate models.
  • Design interactive activities that encourage students to demonstrate knowledge retention and proficiency in new skills.
  • Work with graphic designers and programmers to style learning content with graphics and animations to maximize impact of learning.
  • Edit training materials for formatting, flow, and educational effectiveness.
  • Review materials developed for accuracy against original design documents/learning objectives/storyboards.
  • May supervise their administrative staff working on identified projects.
  • Other duties consistent with the above responsibilities.

What You'll Need (required):

  • Master's degree in Education, Health Communications or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in training or education using the ADDIE model. 
  • Experience with adult learning theory. 
  • Expertise with eLearning development principles, concepts, and tools. 
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain a T3 security investigation. 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to work with and lead interdisciplinary teams, working experience with Program Management fundamentals.

What Would be Even Better (preferred):

  • Knowledge of military and veterans’ health care systems preferred.
  • Experience in the care of patients with TBI – in-patient, out-patient, or a rehabilitation setting is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting the DoD/ VA
