We think. We act. We deliver. There is no challenge we can’t turn into opportunity. Our work depends on a Senior Software Test Engineer joining our team to support New York State (NYS) Department of Heath Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) activities at Riverview Center in Menands, NY.

As a Senior Software Test Engineer supporting the eMedNY Systems Integration Team, you will be trusted to have an excellent understanding of software integration testing best practices, experience with manual testing tools and have knowledge of health care claims processing. We are looking for a qualified Senior Software Test Engineer who has a passion for quality to help ensure the systemic integrity of NYS MMIS. Experience with a MMIS, mainframe technologies such as the COBOL programming language and CICS, testing web based user interface applications is highly desired.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Attend functional requirements definition and project design meetings as requested
Design and develop integration test plans
Execute test cases and scenarios associated with integration test plans for complex applications and processes
Capture integration test results and generate test results documentation
Provide and review test results documentation with the customer and other stakeholders
Work collaboratively with Test Automation Engineers and other Integration Test Team members
Actively participate in project and team meetings
Adhere to program testing standards associated with the creation and publication of testing artifacts and related documentation
Stay abreast of industry testing trends, and remain current with industry standards and best practices
Provide effort and duration estimates associated with the testing phase of the SDLC
Assist in production and other support activities, and ad hoc testing activities that may arise
Perform research activities as assigned
The position requires a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Business (or related field of study)
Five (5) or more years of testing experience in a distributed environment required - Mainframe and Open Systems
Structured Query Language (SQL) - IBM DB2 Rational Database Management System (RDBMS)
IBM DB2 Utilities – SQL Processing Using File Input (SPUFI), Query Management Facility (QMF)
Job Control Language (JCL) – z/OS
Z/OS Mainframe Utilities – IEBGENER, IEFBR14, SYNCSORT, etc.
Strong knowledge of Healthcare
Proficient in Waterfall and Agile SDLC methodologies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel, application development personnel and management
Ability to work in a team environment with multiple team members, as well as productively as an individual.
Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), related claims and ancillary transaction processing
Knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) - HIPAA X12 5010 and NCPDP D.0
COBOL Programming Language
IBM Customer Information Control System (CICS)
IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) Mainframe Source Code Management
IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) Test Management
Familiar with applications developed in Java technologies
Knowledgeable in ETL testing using DataStage, Testing Spring Batch Applications, API Testing
