At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Mission Applications Developer supporting the customer you will be responsible for designing and developing mission applications and databases supporting operations. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Consulting with clients to develop complex user requirements for applications and/or databases.
  • Translating user requirements from a formal requirements document into an application and/or database design.
  • Writing interfaces to companion applications or databases.
  • Writing necessary code.
  • Ensuring interoperability with other applications.
  • Design, code and debug web applications
  • Design and maintain interactive web databases and web servers
  • Design, development and maintenance of basic web applications, databases, and websites.
  • Conducting unit/functional testing and transitioning the complex application and/or database to production.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience working in a team environment exhibiting problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience as a user of customers IT tools supporting operations and customer's current technology.
  • Familiarity with customer mission with emphasis on data protection requirements to support business rules
  • Knowledge and experience deploying applications to a cloud infrastructure using AWS.
  • Knowledge of customer Information Security policies and principles to support Accreditation and Authorization (A&A) process.
  • Knowledge of software engineering, development, and deployment best practices.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience with GitHub, JIRA, Jenkins, Artifactory, Puppet.
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

Provides guidance to all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Analyze user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs.

Provides guidance in creating a variety of models and diagrams that show programmers the software code needed for an application.

Provides guidance to all phases of the software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging process to meet business needs.

Provides valued analysis on software project specifications, activities, or status.

Advises on the software or system process for optimal documentation and future maintenance and updates.

May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts.

May serve as a mentor to less experienced analysts.

May serve as team or task lead. (Not a people manager)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 8+ years of experience.
