GDIT is seeking a Network Engineering for Hosting, Operations and Maintenance (HOM) services for the Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System (HIGLAS) contract.  You will be responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and documenting network solutions.  You will work with a team of engineers on projects to maintain, modify, and redesign complex network architectures in an unclassified environment.  You will act as a senior technical POC for a range of tasks on the project. 

This effort includes developing and maintaining a secure and certified architecture to support e-Government initiatives; minimize the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) security risk and enhance the protection of privacy and security of data, and improve the CMS’ ability to accommodate the growing workload.

This position requires expert technical background in the IT networking industry, in particular, aspects like configuration, design, implementation and troubleshooting of large complex enterprise networks. You will be working with a team of engineers to sustain, configure, design, document, and deploy an enterprise network.      

*The candidate must prove a 3 year residency in the United States for at least 3 years.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.
  • Provide expert support, analysis, research, and advice into exceptionally complex problems and processes relating to the subject matter.
  • Serve as technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation and alternatives.
  • Responsible for the development, configuration, and maintenance of the HIGLAS Network.
  • Hands-on Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and the ability to troubleshoot any ACI issues that come up following deployment by the Engineering team.
  • Experience creating different application policies in the ACI including Tenants, Application Network Profile (ANP), End Point Group (EPG), Contracts, Subjects and Filters
  • Experience with route protocols in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, VDC, vPC, VXLAN, ECMP and Fabric Path
  • Experience with LAN / WAN topologies including MPLS, and point-to-point private lines.
  • Conduct testing of network systems. 
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. 
  • Install Fiber optic cabling to ensure network connectivity is at optimal performance levels Must be able to work independently Day to Day
  • Work with various cable that include but are not limited to: twisted pair, coax, power limited tray, stranded, solid conductor low voltage, Category 5, Category 6, single and multi -mode fiber optic cables.
  • Pulling, placement, termination, testing, and labeling
  • Manage physical access to enterprise datacenters and to the racks in the datacenters
  • Design and manage rack layouts and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Plan and schedule work to perform in the Data Center during Monday through Friday business hours on a weekly basis
  • Provide equipment accountability and coordination of Data Center equipment installations/removal
  • Advise the Installations and Logistics Office of power, space and cooling requirements and/or concerns. • Provide Data Center weekly status reports to Contractor Program Manager and government representatives.
  • Professional level of familiarity implementing and troubleshooting Cisco ASA firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, and switches. 
  • Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.
  • Provides expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
  • Provides expert knowledge for network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
  • Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
  • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.
  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Maintains current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.
  • Provides expert guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
  • May consult with executives and customers to deliver complex network solutions.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 15+ years of experience.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining F5 Big-IP load balancers to include set-up, maintenance, upgrades and replacement of the latest generation of F5s.
  • Experience with Big-IP LTM, APM and ASM modules in a large shared environment.
  • Deploy, operate and maintain highly available networks using Local Traffic Management (LTM) and Global Traffic Management (GTM) technologies.
  • Support Secure Socket Layer / Transport Layer Security (SSL/TSL) offloading and brokering PKI authentication provided by the F5 load balancer.
  • Knowledge of TCPdump and packet capture and analysis.
  • Monitor Remedy application for Firewall Operations trouble tickets for incidents and service requests.
  • Implements firewall routing rules and policies
  • Experience with enterprise network security experience (firewall, Intrusion Detection and -Prevention (IDPs), log management/reporting solutions)
  • Experience with Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Practical experience supporting Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, and Cisco Fortinet firewalls
  • Experience with Splunk or comparable logging system for troubleshooting

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands-on working experience with as many of the following as possible: Routers (Cisco preferred), Cisco Nexus switch platforms, F5 load balancers/application delivery controllers, Palo Alto Firewalls, compute and storage technologies including fabric interconnects, UCS, MDS switches, VNX arrays, VMware deployments and Cisco ACI Fabric (Spine & Leaf Architecture)
  • Knowledge of  TCP/IP and associated routing protocols, such as (M)BGP, OSPF, ISIS, and MPLS protocols and services, such as LDP/RSVP, L2 and L3 VPN technologies, 6PE/6VPE, etc.,
  • Experience with MS Visio and Powerpoint.  
  • Experience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect network design deployments.
  • Prior experience leading engineering teams on complex deployments.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise network design and sustainment, to include routing, switching, data center, and cloud technology areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface at multiple levels.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment, as well as independently.
