General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), is currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in support of the SMAVCS3 contract with the US EPA in Duluth, MN.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to perform scientific work associated with the analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.. Key SMAVCS3 consumers include EPA Office of Research and Development’s (ORD) Chemical Safety for Sustainability program and EPA’s Office of Pesticides (OPP).

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree plus two years of experience.    

Must have, at a minimum, the following skill set:

  • Self-starter with the ability to complete individual tasks which contribute to a larger framework;

Technical skills:

  • Performs scientific work associated with the analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
  • Uses large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization.
  • Uses models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
  • Mines and analyzes data, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations.
  • Develops processes and machine learning-based tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Assesses the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Drives business results with data-based insights.

Specific skills/knowledge:

  • Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
  • Develops data-driven solutions to business challenges of moderate scope/complexity.
  • Utilizes advanced tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict and make discoveries in data.
  • May use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
  • May assist with identifying opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
