At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Database Developer supporting the customer, you will be trusted to design and develop Oracle database objects to support the modification of application data. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Participate in daily scrums.
  • Work with the existing team to provide database and tier 2 support to customer base.
  • Design and develop Oracle database objects to support the modification of application data.
  • Support the application development team by reviewing and implementing database design modifications
  • Provide performance-tuning support of database queries.
  • Provide database administration support the project, i.e., user creation, data exports/imports
  • Work with SI and test team to test all standard operating procedures and complete any required documentation.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong SQL and Oracle PL/SQL development experience.
  • Experience with Oracle database version 11g and 12c.
  • Experience with Linux operating system
  • Strong development, debugging, testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
  • Desire Qualifications: Experience with Oracle Data Pump Export/Import
  • Experience with Oracle Database Administration.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (OEM)
  • Experience with AWS, RDS databases
  • Experience with database security hardening processes
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Experience with agile process
  • Experience with Maximo

Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.

Applies knowledge of API (Application Programing Interface) for data services and databases.

Provides expert knowledge for the design, development, build, analysis, evaluation, installation and administration of database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, non-relational database architecture and procedures, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.

Designs and implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods

Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

Defines and oversees database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.

Provides technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment.

Advises applications development staff and users on data-based solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases.

Maintains current and advanced knowledge of progressive and advancing technology as assigned.

Provides expert guidance and leadership to less-experienced database personnel.

May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)

Consults with executives and customers to deliver complex database solutions.

Recognized as an industry leader in database solutions

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 20+ years of experience
