General Dynamic Information Technology’s (GDIT’s) has an opportunity for a Lead Systems Engineer working within the Defense Division, supporting an exciting new DoD program in Pensacola, Florida.  We are seeking a proven technologist with experience providing innovative approaches to complex information technology (IT) and cybersecurity engineering domains. 

The Lead Systems Engineer will:

  • Develop engineering assessments of different configurations, including the review of work products for correctness
  • Ensure adherence to the design concept and to user standards for progress in accordance with schedules.
  • Makes recommendations, for approval of major systems installations.
  • Coordinates with the Project and/or Program Manager to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction
  • Prepares milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives

Detailed duties will include providing approaches that embrace:

  • Loose Coupling Engineering Principles
  • Modular Open Systems Architecture Where Practicable
  • Vendor Agnostic Where Practical
  • Data Sharing, Control, and Enrichment
  • Agile Paradigm w/ DevSecOps
  • Ease w/ Mission Scope Transition (as Advised by the Government)

Technologies, techniques and frameworks desired:

  • Requirements definition methodologies including Agile User/System stories and traditional detailed requirements definition specifications
  • CI/CD fundamentals and infrastructure automation using scripting and APIs for automating and orchestrating system instances
  • Virtualization technologies including VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes, VDI
  • Firm knowledge and understanding of networking principles, technologies, and techniques
  • Data and storage management best practices using a variety of commercial and Cloud solutions
  • Understanding of the NIST RMF Framework and familiarity with the DoD ATO/A&A process
  • Best practice in scalability, availability, observability and sustainability of architected solutions
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture constructs including DODAF
  • Understand and can apply PKI and security overlays like Single Sign On to runtime environments

EDUCATION

MA or MS in a technical discipline preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 15 years' experience supporting operations for a global organization

IAT Level III preferred - CASP+ CE or CCNP Security or CISA or CISSP (or Associate) or GCED or GCIH

Significant experience working with Enterprise level customers

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Clearance level: Top Secret/SCI
