Project Manager for Scientific and Software Development Projects

Our program team is looking for a Program Manager/Task Lead to support scientific and software development projects for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This work is 100% remote.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Project Manager/Task Lead, you will be trusted to lead multiple small agile software development teams and subcontractors. This position works independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, collaborative environment, and requires strong communication skills, troubleshooting and analytical skills, strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision-making skills.

The Project Manager/Task Lead will serve as the main point of contact for our EPA technical leads.

Additionally, the candidate for this position:

  • Provides overall responsibility for the success of the project team efforts, including communications, reporting, cost estimates, and leading and managing the agile development process for building custom web applications.
  • Collecting and documenting requirements for mature custom software applications; creating users stories and mock-ups.
  • Possesses familiarity with commonly used software development management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Develops technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order and administrative reporting.
  • Conducts planning and provides recommendations to client on task workload.
  • Manages risk tracking process.
  • Attends customer meetings and serves as primary client liaison.
  • Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff on behalf of the client.
  • Coordinate’s development of deliverables and products.
  • Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as necessary.
  • Provides briefings to leadership, create reports and documentation on demand, ensure deliverable compliance, and interface between customer organization and team members
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of standard operating procedures, and seek methods to continuously improve organizational processes while defining and improving business procedures, as needed.
  • Reviews future project requirements and develops strategies for future work.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Previous experience with a management or leadership role on an agile software development team creating custom web applications is HIGHLY DESIRED.
  • Curiosity to learn and grow.
  • Have the ability to handle demanding situations with clarity, focus and professionalism, and to respond quickly to quick turnaround taskers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, or Scientific field.
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager certification desired.
  • 5 years of project management experience.
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and perform independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple projects at varying capacity.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
