General Ledger Accountant

GDIT has an opening for a General Ledger Accountant. You will be responsible and able to meet deadlines within the structure of our team environment. This role will primarily handle reconciling various monthly and/or quarterly balance sheet accounts, processing journal entries within Oracle and be responsible for our Corporate Reporting Requirements. Job Responsibilities:

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the General Ledger and financial reporting structure and systems
• Support the completion of an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, including review and approval of journal entries and accounts reconciliation
• Collaborates with other Finance, Accounting and Company-wide employees to support the General Ledger and Company goals and objectives
• Maintain General Ledger chart of accounts and account mapping to financial reporting system
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Responds timely to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests and all General Ledger inquires
• Recommend and participate in the implementation of changes to policy and procedure to ensure integrity of the general ledger system
• Maintain or develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation
• Support internal and external audits
• Work with manager to establish goals and objectives for each year and provide progress updates to enhance professional development
• Perform other duties as assigned

In order to be considered:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

•2+ years of public accounting or eight or more years of progressive accounting experience

•The ability and desire to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced work environment

•Must possess a strong business acumen and can translate priorities and activities into a team environment

•Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines

•Strong and effective communication, both written and verbal, skills

•Strong organizational skills

•Experience in Oracle is preferred

•Must be able to work independently and in a team environment and effectively interact with colleagues and Company employees across all functions and levels

•Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

•Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)

Preferred but not Required:

•Experience in the government contracting environment

•Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)•Experience with Oracle or other large ERP system general ledger

•Experience with OBIEE and Oracle ARCS

•Experience with OneStream or other Financial Reporting system
