Our work depends on a Web Developer joining our team to support the Alabama Supercomputer Authority’s (ASA) activities in Huntsville, AL. For this role, we are seeking a web developer, focusing on front end development.  This candidate will mainly be working with HTML and CSS files associated with Drupal Content Management Systems and custom C# applications; responsible for developing the overall look and designs of these websites and applications, optimizing them for different formats such as laptops and mobile phones, and ensuring that they meet accessibility requirements.

This role will be part of an amazing, agile team supporting education and workforce development within the state of Alabama.  Projects include building new websites, maintaining and updating existing websites for ASA and various Alabama state agencies. Individuals are expected to self-manage with support from their project teams.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborate with team leads and the Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) and various Alabama state agencies supporting education and workforce development to determine business needs and requirements as well as user needs and requirements.
  • Participate in the design, development, quality assurance and support of Internet-based software.
  • Help develop project technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria with team members, clients, and external partners.
  • Provide task-based time estimates for individual and teamwork.
  • Update and maintain project tickets in TFS.
  • Work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Work effectively on multiple project teams.
  • Employ strong communication skills.
  • Your success will be measured through the completion of Scrum stories, client satisfaction in the solutions we are delivering, the quality of your development work, and how you own and practice GDIT’s values

Required Skills:

  • BA/BS in Graphic Design, Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of work experience
  • Experience with CSS and HTML

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with designing and building responsive, mobile-first web pages
  • Experience with web design principals
  • Experience with UI/UX design concepts, tools, testing, and implementation techniques for usability, accessibility, and responsiveness
  • Experience with a JavaScript framework (such as Vue, React, Angular, or Node)
  • Experience with Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets (SASS)
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Experience with continuous integration and DevOps processes
  • Experience with Agile development, such as Scrum or Kanban Experience with PHP (LAMP)
  • Knowledge of the Drupal 8/9 platform
  • Experience with Linux/Apache hosting environment
