At GDIT, people are our differentiator: The primary responsibility with this position is working with customer management team and other engineering, operations and software developer resources across the IC to meet overall mission technical needs.
Data Engineer Requirements:
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Will work on projects such as writing code to ingest various data sources, ETLing and conditioning data sets into databases and work closely with data scientist and analyst to use the data in visualization products..
This engineer will need to have a holistic view of the data lakes and data structures to determine the most technically efficient way to organize and ingest data into newly created systems.
Must be able to create, present, and update a data management plan for the systems and all other interface control documentation from scratch.
Must be successful in collaborating with business users to discuss requirements, perform current state system analysis, write functional and technical specifications of current state systems and future system workflows.
Demonstrated experience deploying data environments hosted C2S
Knowledge of the customer A&A process for new projects and maintaining existing project documentation.
Demonstrated experience with ETL tools such as but no limited to Pentaho, Twister, Clover or Talend.
Demonstrated experience with relational databases, ie, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and SQL.
Demonstrated experience ingesting, ETL and conditioning new data streams.
Experience with developers/engineers across disciplines to implement customer and system requirements, support a solution that meets the current requirements and is scalable to meet mission needs.
Understand all phases of software development life cycle, The Systems Engineering Life Cycle and the ability to comprehend user business needs and concerns and integrate that understanding with technical skills..
Develops advanced engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product.
Develops masterful engineering skills to highly complex engineering problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
Utilizes masterful engineering skills to perform highly advanced systems design, development, and integration form the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
Provides and applies masterful engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Provides and applies masterful engineering skills to highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Performs continual maintenance and provides masterful engineering solutions for continual and highly complex security, backup and redundancy problems.
Provides guidance for the preparation and maintenance of all documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
Provides guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.
Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.
May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)
Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and digital systems engineering.
Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency.
Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure.
Implements, manages and enhances Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools.
Creates, maintains, and reviews Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Desired State Configuration (DSC) and/or Puppet configuration management tools to support the provisioning infrastructure.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Recognized as a subject matter expert in a specific technology.
