At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Cloud Infrastructure Administrator supporting the customer, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers and administrators to maintain and enhance secure systems using cloud computing services and tools
  • Deploy various open source packages and/or application stacks into the customer's production system
  • Integrate open source frameworks and products into the production environment
  • Work across the different layers of the lT infrastructure (e.g. network, storage, platform, database, and application)
  • Provide Tier-3 SME troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis on production incidents


  • Demonstrated experience with automated provisioning technologies or methods such as AWS CloudFormation, Chef, or AWS bootstrapping via cloud-init scripts.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job operational, analytical experience and excellent understanding of the development of baselines for middleware platforms that can support both on premise and cloud-based AWS environments.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of underlying storage for Linux (LVM), storage network protocols (e.g. NAS, NFS, CIFS, etc.), and clustered or pooled virtualization concepts from leading platforms (e.g. XenServer, HyperV, VMware, etc.).
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of proactive monitoring concepts, including experience configuring and deploying Network and systems monitoring, SNMP (e.g. Ganglia, Nagios, Zenoss).
  • Knowledge with Migration of applications and deployment of physical and virtual servers, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of server environments.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of information security practices (e.g. cryptography, privilege separation, RBAC, INFOSEC, Auditing, Patching, Security Benchmark Compliance, OS hardening).
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge with the Linux operating systems (e.g. RedHat, CentOS)
  • 16 years of related experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, lnformation Systems, Engineering, Business or a related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Security clearance level: Top Secret/SCl with Polygraph
  • Demonstrated strong coordination and collaboration skills with ability to work successfully across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated experience testing end-to-end requirements in applications for operational deployment
  • Demonstrated working level understanding of the Sponsor’s Project Management Framework (PMF)
  • Demonstrated experience with submitting and managing access requests in the Sponsor’s system
  • Develops expert level technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures. Provides interpretation to systems matters that are highly unique and very difficult in nature.
  • Provides troubleshooting support for very unique and difficult hardware matters.
  • Develops training methodology and materials for end user training on the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Subject Matter Expert for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Expert advisor on the monitoring tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Leads personnel on workstation/server data integrity matters and the implementation of standard software and hardware solutions.
  • Advises less experienced personnel on data/media recoverability following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced personal on hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Strategically develops performance and security plan for computer systems that meet the needs of network users. Advises on complex matters and may lead the work of less experienced personnel.
  • Recognized subject matter expert in job area typically through advanced education and work experience. Establishes operational plans. Manage strategic projects that are large in scale with major impact. With influence from leadership, develop new standards, policies and procedures. Problems faced are very difficult and highly complex. Recognized as a thought leader with highly specialized knowledge. Work performed is critical to the organization. May lead the work of less-experienced professionals.
  • Uses highly specialized knowledge in evaluating and assessing existing network systems and planning long-term strategies.
  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
  • May serve as a task or project leader. (Not a people manager)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 15+ years of experience
