Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineer

Job Description Summary:

  • Manages, configures, and maintains the monitoring tools using SolarWinds and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Splunk

  • Designs, modernizes, and implements monitoring solutions for enterprise Infrastructure/Server Monitoring (Linux, Windows), Application, SNMP, and Log Monitoring

  • Implements use of synthetic transactions and other methodologies for monitoring application services for calculating system health and availability

  • Provides Tier 3 and 4 level support to all significant production issues; activities may include gathering information from a wide variety of sources across all platforms to analyze for correlations, identifying specific performance causes, recommending a variety of possible solutions to remedy issue and issue reports with key findings and next steps

  • Analyzes tool data and usage; communicates technical needs to management verbally and via written detailed status reports regarding potential problems and concerns

  • Analyzes requirements concept of operations documents and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications; guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems

  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans

  • Works with Systems and Application Architecture teams to ensure systems monitoring requirements are addressed early in the development process; coordinates with project teams to ensure new application monitoring is available before production release

  • Develops system architecture and system design documentation; creates documentation to support the management and maintenance tools; provides training on tools and the associated processes and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph

  • 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (Security+ or other)

  • Education/Experience Requirement:

  • High School Degree + 10 years of experience

  • Associate Degree + 8 years of experience

  • Bachelor Degree  + 6 years of experience

  • Master Degree + 4 years of experience

  • PhD + 2 years of experience

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with existing and emerging EM tool technologies (e.g., SolarWinds, SCOM, and Splunk)

  • Experience with designing, modernizing, and implementing monitoring solutions for enterprise Infrastructure/Server Monitoring (Linux, Windows), Application, SNMP, and Log Monitoring

The likely salary range for this position is $102,244 - $153,366, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
