Job Description Summary: GDIT is seeking a Mechanic (General), Journeyman in support of the IBD-SS program’s SWA area of operations. A Mechanic (General), Journeyman will provide sustainment maintenance and perform periodic PMCS maintenance on all types of Elevated Sensors generators ranging in size from 2kW to 100kW.
Performs operational checks, induction and return to service inspections, troubleshoot faults, remove and replace components, service generators, remove and replace fluids, make adjustments and alignments, use hand tools and electronic measuring devices such as AC/DC voltmeters and, ohms meters
Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, engineering documents, schematic diagrams, safety bulletins, and news flashes; be able to input data into databases and be able to retrieve data to perform maintenance or provide reports as requested
Skilled generator mechanic with knowledge of diesel engines with the ability to perform engine repairs
Electrical troubleshooting and relay logic
Knowledge of AC/DC power
Able to test current, ohms, and voltage in a safe manner
Repair and /or replace damaged parts on generators
Service generators with oil changes
Updates applicable maintenance databases, and informs Lead of job status and any issues encountered
Tracks and updates work orders to include the replacement of parts’ component serial numbers removed and replaced
May travel via military/commercial conveyances to outlying areas
Must have the ability to generate/produce data and reports
Interact and professionally exhibit customer service skills and be able to present a positive approach with customers and peers
Must be able to withstand physical demands of seasonal hot or cold temperatures and willing to live and operate in an austere environment
Must be willing to support up to an 84-hour Extended Work Week
Possesses a US passport that will not expire for at least 2 or more years and must have at least 4 consecutive blank pages for country visas
Must be capable of meeting standards of fitness for deployment to the SWA of Operations
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment
Relevant and recent experience supporting Force Protection systems is highly desirable
Experience utilizing COLTS (or similar such as RCLS) and operating within the GCSS-A environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel
Import/Export (ITAR/EXIM) compliance experience
Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong customer service
Ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detail
BA/BS with 5-8 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. (12 total years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree.)
Must have an active US Secret security clearance and be able to maintain it.
