Collaborates with hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and works with them to resolve incompatibilities.
Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.
Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required. Investigates new ISR applications that could further support the warfighter utilizing the US BICES network or any of the other networks across US BICES-X.
8+ years of related software development experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of software engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
Professional certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
Background in object oriented development technique
Solution Design Patterns and Best Practices, e.g. SOA
Database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server)
Experience with Web Services, WCF and Service Oriented Architecture a plus
Experience with concurrent development source control and continuous integration (Team Foundation Server)
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies.
Professional certification in one or more specific technologies preferred, including COMPTIA Security+ within 6 months of hire and ITIL v3/v4 Foundations within 12 months of hire.
