GDIT is looking for an experienced Installation Project Manager to oversee and coordinate shipboard maintenance activities for the Surface Ship Torpedo Defense/Torpedo Warning System Program.  The successful candidate will interface directly with the Government customer. 

Assist in planning activities to ensure the proper tools, material, equipment, and services are procured to meet the installation schedule.

Write Statements of Work for vendor support services to include, but not limited to, scaffolding/staging, welding machines, surface preparation and marine coatings, and crane and rigging support.

Monitor shipboard progress and be responsive to the team leaders’ needs, ensuring that installation support items and support services arrive at the ship when needed.

Coordinate with other installation activities within GDIT and the manpower resource team to secure skilled trades to support the installation schedules.

Update installation schedules in Microsoft Project as required. 

Participate in daily installation progress meetings and take action as required.

Update existing work instructions and develop new instructions, as required, to improve day-to-day processes.

Must be able to read and interpret ship installation drawings. 

Must be an effective communicator.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.  Microsoft Project experience required. 

First-level manager responsible for managing the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.

Manages the logistics schedule and issue resolution process.

Manages the schedule, performance requirements and has budget responsibilities.

Identifies and strategizes cost reducing tactics and efficiency improvements that add value to business operations.

Manages the workplace safety standards and ensures compliance.

Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews for supervisors and/or individual contributors.

SCOPE: Manages one or more small to medium sized teams focused on a few or multiple areas. Low to Medium complexity.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience
