The position will support DoD programs that are playing a major role in strengthening and modernizing America's Strategic Deterrent Force within GDIT’s Digital Engineering and Space Systems Business Unit. GDIT will develop and deliver a digital engineering design solution which enables and integrates the program’s complete set of data, tools, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities, and makes them available to internal and appropriate external engineering and programmatic stakeholders throughout the program’s lifecycle. This effort will culminate in an abstracted, highly transportable environment delivered to the Government, to be instantiated “virtually” on the Government’s network infrastructure.
For this effort, GDIT will use cloud-based concepts including IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), IaC (Infrastructure as Code), and SaaS (Software as a service).
Job Duties:
The Software Architect need to establish the left and right boundaries for all developers to work within including the physical and logical architecture, design patterns to employ, technologies to be used, priorities of work-items, and clarification of requirements. To be successful, you’ll need to be able to:
Collaborate closely with solution architects and scrum masters to effectively manage an Agile SDLC
Work with MBSEs to model the problem domain, logical architecture, and software architecture
Quickly understand a unique set of end users and their problem domain
Collaborate with coworkers to brainstorm new software features.
Model and Pitch software design proposals to solution/enterprise architects and customers for approval.
Write clear and concise user stories and recognize/remedy bad ones
Mentor developers, testers, and other team members
Advises and oversees the software testing process to ensure that all NFRs are clearly tested.
Deliver demos and briefings to stakeholders and empathically listen to their feedback and criticisms
Make rapid decisions with insufficient information and accept responsibility when they’re wrong
Provide general day-to-day leadership of multiple agile development teams
Negotiate timelines and manage expectations with stakeholders and development teams
Qualifications and Skills: You should have previously worked, with progressively increasing responsibility, on multiple software projects including a range of technologies and problem domains
Hard Skills:
Deep knowledge in at least one of the C family of languages.
Prior experience with React or similar frameworks for web applications
Prior experience with Cloud and DevSecOps technologies
SysML or UML modeling experience
Experience with NIST or DISA cybersecurity requirements
Prior experience with micro-services architectures
Soft Skills:
Exceptional leadership skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to track and manage multiple deliverables and timelines across multiple product teams
Organized and Detail Oriented
Strong problem solving and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to work in a SAFe Agile environment
Education and Experience Requirements:
At least 15+ years of software development and 5 years of leadership experience is required.
Security Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or greater clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $160,000 - $240,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
