Job Description Summary:

Join ENERGY STAR to make difference in world for climate change. ENERGY STAR needs mid-level database developers preferably someone that is flexible to work on multiple databases with multiple technology. The candidate should be able to work closely with other database developers, software developers, analysts, and infrastructure team for data design, requirements, data modeling, data pulls and reports request. This program provides an opportunity to further advance cutting-edge technology, products, and services in AWS cloud, ENERGY STAR program takes data from multiple sources in any format (structured or unstructured), transforms and loads it into data warehouse for reporting needs. Team members work closely with EPA Client to develop solutions that meets high standards, secure and scalable.

As a Database Engineer, you will help with understanding data storage requirements and convert those to data models, maintain existing and generate new PL/SQL code, write scripts to pull data for large report requests, performance tune database, manage release and should be able to work in CI/CD environment for deployment. The successful candidate will help expand and optimize the data architecture, develop strategies for efficient data processing, storage, structuring, and access. The Database Developer should have experience working on relational database like Oracle, Postgres and MySQL and non-relational/NoSQL database like mongoDB.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Support Software development team by designing, developing and implementing scalable database structures, PL/SQL scripts and ETL process to move data to warehouse.
  • Support Report development activity using third party BI tools.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain data processing scripts for data maintenance.
  • Work with Software developer to tune database queries and provide recommendation for optimal performance of application.
  • Develop technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Work independently on database related tasks.
  • Migrate existing Oracle databases to Postgres.
  • Convert existing code from PL/SQL to PgSQL.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3 to 5 Years Experience working as a Database Developer.
  • Working knowledge of entity relationship modeling.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse database Data modeling.
  • Excellent use and understanding of data engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL development to manage creating and maintaining functions, store procedures, packages, triggers and data structures.
  • Experience with database migration activities form Oracle to Postgres.
  • Experience writing complex queries for data extraction.
  • Experience with NoSQL database mongoDB.
  • Working Knowledge of ETL development and processing.
  • Experience working with REST and SOAP based Webservices to make API calls to extract data from Database.
  • Experience working with version control system like Git.
  • Experience working with CI/CD Development methodology.
  • Bachelor's degree or four years of related experience preferred

TOOLS and TECHNOLOGY:

  • Working knowledge with database IDE like PL/SQL developer, Oracle Developer or similar
  • Working knowledge with mongoDB IDE or javascript.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Business Objects report development.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Data Services for ETL development.
  • Knowledge of Git and maven for running builds.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
