Linux Systems Administrator – Active Top Secret Required

HOW A LINUX SYSTEMS ADMNINISTATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Developing and maintaining documentation such as SOPs on existing and new applications.

  • Maintaining and troubleshoot Linux systems on a day-to-day basis.

  • Ensuring system lifecycles are performed (e.g. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS -> 20.04 LTS and so on with OS upgrades).

  • Providing administrative access based on group security, applied with least privilege and other permission access management techniques.

  • Ensuring system lifecycles are performed (e.g. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS -> 20.04 LTS and so on with OS upgrades).

  • Ensuring patches are maintained across a diverse Linux environment (e.g. Ubuntu, RHEL7/8, CentOS, etc.) in a heavily automated manner, where possible.

  • Ensuring that already-provisioned Linux systems are kept in compliance with baseline requirements & ever-changing enterprise policy (e.g. equivalent to Group Policy in the Windows realm for ongoing compliance updates).

  • Developing an operating system lifecycle plan with integration of DoD STIGs and other recommended security standards.

  • Integrating Linux systems with other enterprise tooling (e.g. ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds, Backup systems, etc.).

  • Monitoring all solutions integrated via a centralized alerting system (Solarwinds).

  • Certifying log management and forwarding to a single repository (Splunk).

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent

  • Required Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity

  • Required Technical Skills: DoD 8140 compliance required. (CompTIA Security+)

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret (must have a T5 or T5R within the last 5 years)

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Highly motivated, self-starter with great communications skills; effective problem solver; able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Location: Washington, District of Columbia; limited telework may be available
