GDIT is looking for an immediate hire of a Wireless Network Engineer responsible for voice, video, radio frequency and/or data communications networking. Candidate must be proficient with wireless technologies such as WiFi, WiMAX and WAP with strong knowledge of 802.11b/g/n/ac. Duties include: conducting wireless surveys & assessment; predictive wireless assessment and deployments; wireless infrastructure and associated wireless technology projects.
NOTE: Must be available to work onsite at client facility in Raleigh, NC (no remote work).
TRAVEL: The Program requires 30% travel.
Support a Cisco centric WAN, LAN, and WLAN environment. This includes routers, firewalls, security, WLAN.
Work in support of small to large strategic or tactical wireless projects.
Support planning and execution of 3-4 large simultaneous wireless refresh projects per quarter to completion
Conduct and or coordinate site surveys, develop site plans to gain total coverage of facility
Build BOM, track site upgrade execution, and validate deployment/upgraded equipment/site.
Performing site installs, maintenance, upgrades or software enhancements to support the network infrastructure needs.
Function as a point of escalation for operational entities regarding regular or complex issues.
Monitor system for trouble areas and proactively resolve and document root cause.
Work on daily service tickets while engaged on enterprise wireless deployments.
Strong experience with both centralized and local Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers.
Strong experience with Cisco Lightweight Access Points.
Strong understanding of WLAN technologies, network management, 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards.
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with analysis tools such as Ekahau, Air Magnet, Wireshark, etc.
Design, test and implement new Wi-Fi deployments and upgrades to existing infrastructure
Engage with manufacturer technical support centers to quickly resolve issues as they arise as necessary.
Candidates should be able to understand scripting languages: Bash, Perl or Python.
Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline (or relevant work experience)
Preference will go to those that have:
CCNA. 6 - 9 years of Enterprises WAN/LAN/WLAN experience and high density deployments. 3+ years of Cisco devices configuration experience.
