GDIT has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Cloud Storage Engineer to help support our milCloud 2.0 Contract and work in our office in Chantilly, VA. 

In this role you will be an active member of the milCloud 2.0 Team performing architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of storage and backup/recovery technical capabilities to continually evolve the cloud security infrastructure and service offerings.

GDIT delivers the milCloud 2.0 cloud service to the Department of Defense (DoD) as an on premise commercial cloud service, services offerings currently include or may include in the future:

  • Infrastructure as a Service
  • Platform as a Service
  • Software as a Service
  • Database as a Service
  • Backup as a Service
  • Systems administration and security support

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible to engineer an On-premise Cloud Storage infrastructure and services utilizing best in-class technologies that will address evolving customer needs and support integration of enhancements to the infrastructure.
  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts for On-premise cloud storage architecture and life cycle management. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts.
  • Develops advanced storage technological ideas, forward leaning capacity management methods and guides their development into an On-premise cloud.
  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain sustain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior.
  • Develops Cloud storage infrastructure cyber security services utilizing best in-class technologies that will address evolving customer needs and support integration of enhancements to the infrastructure.
  • Participates in high-level enterprise storage architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, capacity management and evolution. 
  • Participates in high-level enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development. 
  • Applies high-level business and technical principles and methods to very difficult technical problems to arrive at creative engineering solutions. 
  • Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. 
  • Has a deep understanding of DoD business transformation and processes, DoD organizational structure, and experience in developing briefings and responses to GAO, OMB, and executives within the department. 
  • Possesses extensive Cloud infrastructure knowledge and hands-on experience with the DoDAF, the Business Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Transition Plan, Service Oriented Architecture, and the Business Mission Area Federation Strategy and Roadmap. 
  • Performs product research, examine product trade-offs, developing presentations, coordinating vendor meetings, and developing documenting.
  • Perform system administration functions
  • Respond to incident tickets
  • Other tasks as assigned

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Active DOD TOP SECRET Clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
  • 14+ years of experience architecting, designing, engineering, integrating, deploying, and maintaining enterprise systems.  
  • 5+ years of hardware experience to include compute, network, & storage
  • 5+ years of experience implementing DOD Security Controls
  • Must have experience deploying enterprise capabilities from cradle to grave into the USG.
  • Must have experience developing documentation for architectures, designs, engineering, and operational support.
  • Must be a self-starter that drives solutions to implementation.

DESIRED Qualifications:

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level III Certification (CISSP or CASP)
  • AWS, Azure, or other Cloud Experience a plus
