Created after 9-11-2001, the Department of Homeland Security consolidated numerous agencies' data centers for central management. General Dynamics Information Technology plays a key role in the Department's IT integration strategy through its Data Center-1 program. GDIT's DC-1 program is committed to delivering an efficient, responsive, and mature data center operation through excellence in service delivery, performance, and continual service improvement.
Provides technical support and guidance on highly complex design issues to customers and less experienced personnel. Investigates and resolves matters of significance.
Prepares complex documentation and information to meet customer requirements
Strong network performance modeling and benchmarking skills
Required Knowledge and Skills
Requires BS or equivalent + 5 yrs related experience, or MS + 3 yrs related experience with at least 4 years recent hands on experience in implementation, troubleshooting and maintaining the following equipment:
WAN optimization (Riverbed)
Network monitoring tool
Must be able to walk a network, configure virtual and physical interfaces, understand high availability concepts, and understand the OSI model, thorough understanding of TCP/IP and sub-netting.
Good time management
Strong communication skills to interact with team members, management, customers and support personnel
Strong leadership skills to oversee project team
Strong ability to analyze and solve complex problems using analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of networks
