General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is currently seeking a Data Engineer in Rockville, Maryland to join our team supporting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  GDIT delivers cost-effective, next-generation IT solutions and services to the Federal Civilian / Health, Department of Defense, and intelligence community as they modernize their information systems. In this role you will be a change agent by:

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for writing and managing complex SQL queries, stored procedure and ETL jobs

  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing SQL Reports

  • Responsible for reviewing and improving the data quality of all the team deliverables

  • Implement and maintain the development processes, QC testing and release management as needed

  • Manage day-to-day client interactions and expectations

  • Improve customer relationship to increase customer satisfaction

Required Qualifications:

  • BA or equivalent + 8 years related experience; or master’s and 5 years related experience

  • Hands on coding experience with Oracle PL/SQL and performance tuning of SQL queries

  • Experience with writing Oracle stored procedures, packages, functions, reference cursors, and dynamic SQLs, etc.

  • Strong experience in debugging and looking at existing code for modifications

  • Experience documenting solutions/processes as needed

  • Hands on experience working in an Agile Development environment

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Business Objects Reports and Universe development

  • Ability to work independently to research issues

  • Ability to work with end users to troubleshoot production issues

  • Experience with Informatica PowerCenter or other ETL Products

  • Knowledge of JIRA, Service Now

  • Knowledge of Java programming language

  • Ability to learn new application from business and technology perspective

  • Demonstrated flexibility in a new environment
