Visual Geospatial Developer

Summary:

Develop 3D content for real time maritime simulation.   Developer will produce 3D visual databases models, along with asset data needed to run in simulator environment.   DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS, 5+ years of experience

Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience developing 3D geospatial content.

  • 3D Database TEST REQUIRED FOR CANDIDATES WHO MEET QUALIFICATIONS PRIOR TO INTERVIEW

Qualifications:

A solid understanding of the following software and skills is REQUIRED for ideal candidates:

  • Software
    • 3D Visual Database software – TerraVista, or Esris ArcGIS Desktop software suite
    • Global Mapper or other GIS programs
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Persagis Creator, or other 3D Modeling application.
  • Skills
    • GIS, OSM, geospatial concepts, elevation data and aerial/satellite imagery
    • Extracting features from a variety of sources including but not necessarily limited to:
    • Rasterized charts, digital hydrographic survey data and ortho-rectified imagery
    • Experience in creating shapefiles and features
    • Knowledge of digital cartography and geospatial production techniques and NGA digital data formats

Additional software and skills experience preferred in the following:

  • Software
    • Python or other scripting languages
    • GIS knowledge and application into 3d visual databases
    • Open Scene Graph
    • Real time simulation
    • Unity / Unreal
    • Other Adobe Creative Suite application (After Effects, Premiere, etc.)
  • Skills
    • Ability to work alone and self-motivate
    • Ability to manage time appropriately and meet agreed-upon deadlines
    • Knowledge of how to prepare assets for use in engine
    • Create highly realistic looking low poly vehicles/ships/aircraft/buildings and hard surface objects to work in simulation engines.
    • Excellent texture skills with hard surfaced modeling with economize model complexity
    • Ability to quickly match existing styles and techniques to create a cohesive look to the final product
    • Openness to guidance, reviews, and critiques from both creative and technical supervisor(s) and the ability to make improvements in a positive way
    • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to adapt to current production process and flexibility to evolve when our process evolves
