GDIT is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to provide technical leadership and support in the areas of growth/proposals, and solution specification/design for our Defense | Army Division. You will need to possess strong knowledge of DoD information technology and applicable commercial solutions; and have significant experience designing and developing technical solutions. The position can be fully remote with occasional travel to our headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia
You must be a team focused problem solver that has excellent communications skills, a strong customer service orientation, and possess experience leading solutions for growth opportunities. You will provide technical leadership and support in the areas of IT planning, solution specification/design, and target architecture development. May provide technical guidance for Solution Architects and technical/functional subject matter experts.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead winning solution development for growth opportunities
Identify, assess, and design technical solutions that satisfy the requirements of growth opportunities
Work with business area directors and solution architects within Growth to develop and mature our solution verticals, our solution architecture capability, and our overall value proposition.
Work with the GDIT business development leads to understand and design to customer strategic planning initiatives and intent
Provide thought leadership and technical support to assist business areas and programs in retaining and growing both new and current work
Provide business area and sector and leadership feedback by measuring the success of delivery and organic growth initiatives
Coordinate “reach back” with technical subject matter experts (SME) within GDIT and partners to obtain specific knowledge or expertise to address technical issues.
Respond to technical questions and research requests from customers and programs. Perform business case analysis to support decision-making processes.
Build and maintain relationships across all GDIT business units to ensure alignment with program capture, program execution, and other line of business services.
Understand impact of internal decisions on customer & vendor relationships & plans accordingly
Build & maintain relationships with key vendor partners to incorporate technology & capabilities.
Actively identify, monitor, and incorporate industry & vendor solutions
Monitor the use of the technology supporting federal client systems to ensure they are making the best use of the existing or target technical architecture.
Review proposed designs and technical solutions for suitability.
Recommend technical, organizational, and functional improvements to systems and processes to further SA capabilities and value-add.
Collect and organize governmental guidance and requirements relative to Enterprise Architecture (EA) and develop analysis and other products to assist federal management in determining activities and responses. Provide support to the client to maintain their enterprise architecture and lead coordination with stakeholders to ensure that all required EA work is completed accurately and on schedule.
Develop solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; and investigating problem areas.
Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and charts.
Research new technologies and develop white papers detailing their application in enhancing the technical or business infrastructure.
Identify and select the best technical solutions and approaches to meet anticipated or actual acquisition requirements
Lead solution design and the development of key artifacts including, but not limited to architectural models, process diagrams, concepts of operation, etc.
Develop unsolicited technical recommendations/collateral to engage prospective customers and position GDIT to win
Collaborate with GDIT technical service areas and lines of business to identify and bring the best technical and business strategies and solutions to differentiate GDIT
Contribute to teaming strategies including identifying and vetting potential partners
Develop cost strategies, LOEs/BOEs/BOMs, and associated rationale
Participate in the review of system enhancement requests and new business requirements submitted by the customers, and work with application architects, information security and IT engineers to design solutions and determine level of effort and impact to service delivery and operations
Function as technical liaison with the client, developers, project managers and system engineers to gather consensus on solution and assist in execution of deliverables
Providing advice and support for systems development and engineering projects
Preparing deliverable reports and briefings
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS
20+ years of relevant experience including Solution Architecture
Team-oriented, solutions-focused, and customer service aligned
Excellent written/oral communication skills.
Strong knowledge of information technology, including all layers of the IT stack
Experience developing lifecycle cost estimates for technical solutions
Strong critical thinking and analysis capabilities
Desired Qualifications
MA/MS in Computer Science or Engineering
Experience with DoD, Army, DISA, DoDAF, or NETCOM.
Experience with Enterprise Architecture.
Experience architecting and/or leading application modernization initiatives
Understanding of federal enterprise architecture concepts
Federal IT capital planning knowledge and experience
Business analysis skills
Experience writing proposals and responding to RFPs
Extensive experience presenting technical concepts to customers
Experience implementing any of the following capabilities:
Agile & Lean principles & methodologies for application development
ITSM Automation & Orchestration
Big data analytics, data warehousing, data lak
Large scale cloud migration (application, data, infrastructure)
Next-gen cyber defense capabilities (e.g. proactive threat detection & automated response)
Ability to lead projects & provide technical oversight to ensure alignment with strategic goals & objectives.
Maintain technical proficiency by keeping current with the latest technologies, trends, standards, & products.
Experience developing lifecycle cost estimates for technical solutions.
Experience in leading technical teams including defining architectural roadmap to meet business goals and end to end solutions
Strong, articulate communication skills knowing the right level of technical detail to include for multiple audiences (executives, vendors, contractors)
Knowledge of common application design patterns in regards to infrastructure impacts, such as SOA, web services, messaging, n-tier architecture
Familiarity with Information Security concepts and best practices
The likely salary range for this position is $140,000 - $210,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
