  • Work directly with TCD subject matter experts, scientists, program managers, leadership, technology performers, national and international stakeholders to assess needs to plan, coordinate and conduct outreach around project milestones. Outreach includes content creation, science writing to publish externally, content creation for internal communications, identifying speaking engagements and conferences, coordinating and supporting TCD’s presence in outreach events, association outreach, etc.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and serve as a thought partner on all program-related communications and outreach activities. For example: Develop and pitch (to the team and clients) innovative ideas and approaches to engage current and additional internal and external audiences.
  • Draft and execute strategic communications strategies and plans.
  • Determine effective means (e.g., traditional vs nontraditional) for keeping internal and external stakeholders apprised of progress and results.
  • Create and review original content including:
  • Provide support for conference attendance and other management efforts.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field a plus
  • Experience as a science writer.
  • Demonstrated success as a scientific communication leader
  • Proven ability to communicate complex data and insights in clear and compelling ways.
  • Experience managing and guiding diverse teams of researchers, journalists, and communicators.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scientific communications products including blogs, social media channels, and dashboards.
  • Willingness to work on-site
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to obtain a DHS suitability clearance to obtain a DHS badge
