Job Description
- Applies appropriate welding processes to join surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
- Must be able to complete a three-position weld test (V, H, OH) SMAW CS plate test
- Must be able to complete structural workmanship test
- Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
- Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Must be able to obtain all necessary badges (DBIDS and shipyard).
- Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 75 lbs.
Education:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Technical or vocational training is a plus.
Qualifications:
3+ years of related welding experience. Must be able to obtain a DBIDS Badge for access to Naval Bases, Naval Facilities, and private shipyards (BAE, NASSCO, etc.) Must be US Citizen. Travel may be required
