Our work depends on a Solution Architect – LAN/WAN/Remote Access joining our team to support DOJ activities in Washington, DC.

At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Solution Architect – LAN/WAN/Remote Access supporting DOJ Justice Management Division (JMD), you will be trusted to work on primarily Cisco network devices in a network environment supporting wired and wireless connectivity and approximately 175 to 200 local area network (LAN) equipment change requests/month and 200 to 250 firewall change requests/month. In this role, a typical day will include:


PRIMARY REPSONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborating with DOJ JMD, other DOJ components, and other third-party contractors in support of IT projects and services to meet or exceed all performance metrics to achieve DOJ OCIO IT service level objectives.
    • Lead Service recovery process for major incidents/P1 tickets
    • Leadership in handling technical issues and escalations
    • Manage and mentor a team of SME's performing service recovery
    • Review Root cause Analysis for Major Incidents and ensure completion of corrective/preventive actions
    • Consultancy on the service improvement programs and possible automation for delivery team
    • Review High Level Design, Low Level design and Acceptance test plans of ongoing projects
    • Address critical changes in the technology domain as part of change management process

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
    • Ten (10) years of relevant experience
    • Relevant industry certification, such as CCNA 
    • Experience in activities, such as the following:
      • Creating a network architecture that considers functional requirements, technical considerations, business processes and end users
      • Creating a wide variety of IT system architectures
      • Analyzing network systems and developing technical documentation
      • Developing network system design and optimization recommendations
      • Developing and executing implementation plans and performance validation testing
      • Preparing customer presentations, project plans, and work
      • Overseeing network operations supporting enterprise services and applications
      • Developing and overseeing network change requests for firewalls, routing, switching, proxy services, VPN, DNS, mail, SD-WAN and public cloud service deployments
      • Providing problem identification, escalation and resolution of WAN/LAN performance, hardware, network carriers, and security issues in cooperation with the network services provider and Government agency customers
      • Identifying routing and network access control requirements and resolution of related issues
      • Analyzing network traffic and providing recommendations for issue resolution, optimization, and configuration enhancements (e.g., QoS, TCP optimization)
      • Assisting customers developing and troubleshooting network firewall access control policies
      • Developing network monitoring and management procedures using tools that complement / supplement those in use by the network service provider and Government agency customers
      • Providing technical consulting and engineering support to government program/project managers
