Job Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer (Networks), for our NSWC Dahlgren Corporate IT program in Dahlgren, Virginia you will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive IT support to the entire NSWC Dahlgren organization.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Analyzing customer requirements and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems

  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks

  • Maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability

  • Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed

  • Create plans and configures systems for data communication networks

  • Design and build hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks

  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

  • May serve as a team or task lead

Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance w/SSBI (T5)

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT-related field.  Four (4) years of directly relatable experience (above requirement below) can be used in lieu of a degree.

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in relation to design and implementation in local area network (LAN)/ wide area network (WAN) corporate environments using Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies with routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls and cable plant designs.

  • This position requires IAT Level 2 or higher certifications (Per DoD Directive 8570.01-M or successor)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with Navy or other Department of Defense contracts.
