GDIT is looking for a SAS Analytics - Tableau Advisor to join our team supporting the USPS in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities and duties include (but not limited to):

  • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems, processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Provide architecture design input for implementing Tableau and SAS Visual Analytics 
  • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
  • Supports information requests from inception to delivery, translating user requirements into appropriate reporting objects that tell a story with data including, but not limited to: analytic scorecards, dashboards, and reports.
  • Develops and implements user-interactive reporting objects including filters, tool tips, and statistically-based/risk based what if scenarios.
  • Integrates information from a variety of the organizations operational and data warehouse systems and synthesizes it to create self-service resources that enable users to explore the data and answer questions independently.
  • Creates sustainable data models using SQL and database tools.
  • Provides intermediate analytic programming support (e.g., R, Python, or SAS)
  • Contributes to or develops business intelligence and data modelling standards and guidelines.
  • May lead or coordinate small, informal team(s) of developers to expedite completion of various assignments and/or projects.
  • Facilitating and guiding analysts knowledge of SAS and Tableau dashboard creation and product automation
  • Providing guidance to Cyber/Analytics team on dashboard creation
  • Development of technical design documentation to include but not limited to entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams and object oriented design documents


Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline

Desired qualifications:

  • Ten (10) plus years of experience
  • High level experience with Tableau and SAS Visual Analytics analytical tools
  • Experience with SAS Office Analytics, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Visual Statistics
  • Experience with training parties in the use of Tableau and SAS Visual Analytics products and analysis
  • Experience with common data science toolkits
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • At least two (2) years of experience using applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • At least two (2) years of experience using documentation skills (Requirement, Functional, and Technical)
  • Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Hadoop and Teradata preferred)
  • Experience working with flat file data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes or industry best practices

  • Analytical skills focusing on investigative data analytics a plus

This program only accepts US citizens and/or Green Card Holders. The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
