GDIT is seeking a highly motivated consultant with over 10 years of strategy development and project management experience to work closely with a team of direct and indirect personnel focused on providing program management; strategic planning, alignment, and implementation; stakeholder engagement and communications; and research and development and standards support to successfully enable operational and mission effectiveness of the Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate. The consultant will be responsible for working with Federal program managers to help meet customer needs, leverage partner resources, and achieve key milestones.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide program management and thought leadership to clearly demonstrate and communicate program achievements, execution performance, and strategic direction. 
  • Develop strategic plans and roadmaps for high priority programs, projects, and activities.
  • Manage metric datasets, create visualizations and identify data issues.
  • Communicate status of program/project to internal and external stakeholders via written reports and meetings.
  • Perform senior-level advisory consulting work as an authority in the management consulting area.
  • Support the creation and update of program artifacts (e.g., project management plans, risk management plans, one-page summaries, PowerPoint presentations, meeting reports, charters, and After-Action Reports).
  • Gather system requirements and needs from customers and stakeholders.
  • ServiceNow functionality desired but not required; but should have working knowledge of similar applications that manage workflows.
  • Manage the evaluation of risk and opportunity impacts to existing or proposed projects/programs and implement risk mitigation actions.
  • Support other priority areas to include assessing knowledge management needs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Years of Experience: 10+ years in program/project management, developing strategic plans and roadmaps, coordinating with working groups, and applying change management principles to cross-functional federal programs.
  • Required: BA/BS or higher in Business, Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, Social Science, Education, Human Resources Development, Psychology, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical disciplines.
  • Ability to manage all tasks and schedules to ensure activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to act as “Thought Partner” to clients to help them formulate their points of view and paths forward.
  • Experience working with the Department of Homeland Security a plus.
  • Experience working with government research and development organizations a plus.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
