The Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer will lead and perform a wide variety of tasks developing, maintaining and integrating specialized mathematical-based modeling and simulation in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s mission area. The selected individual will perform in a team environment to develop performance concepts and requirements for advanced kill vehicle capabilities of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS) in a model based systems engineering environment. Modeling and simulation tasks will also support end-to-end performance analysis of the BMDS. Individual will also lead development, updating, and benchmarking/anchoring of MDS M&S tools to support system analysis tasks. Individual will conduct technical meetings with government and industry subject matter experts to analyze and formulate performance and functional requirements for system-of-system level specifications. This position is in Huntsville, AL. Secret clearance required.
Required Qualifications: Individual must have a strong technical background in numerical modeling and simulation using a high level programming language such as MATLAB, or similar language environment. Demonstrated modeling and simulation experience, include 6DOF level of fidelity for complex DoD or Aerospace applications. Demonstrated software development experience with languages such as C++, C#, Python or Java. Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions. Individual must possess good oral and written communication skills. Capable of working in focused teams as an independent individual contributor.
Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.). Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems ((e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.), a discriminator in selection. Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.). Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience
