IN THIS ROLE, A TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:
Monitoring database activity and file usage, and ensuring necessary resources are present. Determining data to collect and analyzing information as appropriate. Investigating and resolving technical database issues of significance.
Overseeing the analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for more complex databases. Recommending and implementing tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times.
Defining logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designing complex data structures to accommodate database production implementation, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance.
Optimizing database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes. Limiting database accessibility based upon information security level.
Implementing and supporting database security regulations, policies, and guidelines. Monitoring security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; installing necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security.
Planning and installing upgrades of database software as necessary to enhance database performance. Researching various hardware and software products; recommending solution and implementing approved products.
Performing database software installations and upgrades and implementing backup/recovery strategies. Reviewing and approving application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment.
Integrating databases and COTS software packages; resolving conflicts among software components, operating systems, and custom developed applications.
Designing and testing database installation, implementation, and recovery scenarios. Determining test to use and collecting appropriate data according to established guidelines. Participating in analysis, development and implementation of unique database recovery plans in response to client-impacting outages.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, software engineering or related field or relevant experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of database design, development and maintenance experience with PostgreSQL.
Two or more years of work experience with AWS, e.g. RDS, EC2, EBS, S3.
Two or more years of work experience with Docker.
Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
Experience working with database development methodologies, design and implementation.
Experience working with database software installation/upgrading procedures on AWS.
Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures.
Experience working with database performance monitoring and tuning.
Strong skills in SQL, PL/pgSQL and Linux/Unix Shells.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with Oracle and PL/SQL.
Experience working with N2W Cloud Protection Manager.
Experience working with Kubernetes.
Experience working with relational data modeling for OLTP and OLAP systems.
Good skills in using application development language such as Java and Python.
Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience.
Soft skills to work with a broad group of individuals from very technical, project, program, and customer facing.
Proficient at multi-tasking and proactive in work responsibilities.
Superior attention to detail.
Passion for providing a great customer experience.
Excellent communication, prioritization, and analytical skills.

Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.
Must have lived in the US for the last 3 out of 5 years.
Must be a US person (green card or citizen).
