GDIT’s O&M services support break-fix of current OBIM functional capabilities, as well as security remediation activities and developmental engineering (such as prototyping new code or configurations of OBIM functionality). GDIT is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to manage IDENT systems and provide support to infrastructure deployment, patching, and OS troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be able to document and track systems requirements and performance of existing infrastructure, troubleshoot complex problems quickly and effectively, and clearly articulate solutions verbally.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Administer/maintain, install, configure, use, upgrade AIX and Linux for both physical and virtual environments - Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards, policies, and procedures - Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage - Conduct incident/isssue troubleshooting and resolution to restore services and support root cause analysis - Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks where possible - Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Maintain development server infrastructure - Create client reports
Required Skills / Qualifications: - US citizenship - DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS Final Suitability - Bachelors degree and 8+ years experience in relevant fields - Systems engineering and/or administration experience with multiple operating systems (e.g., AIX, RHEL, SUSE) - Experience working on complex IT projects and/or in an enterprise IT environment
Desired Skills / Qualifications: - Masters degree in computer engineering, systems engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study - 15+ years of directly related experience - Experience with large scale, enterprise IT O&M, technologies, and programs - Experience with AIX, VIOS, IBM ESeries Virtualization - Demonstrated ability to design, build, test, and maintain enterprise level virtualized IBM AIX environments, Virtual Network, Virtual SAN - Familiarity with best practices/standards for ensuring highly available, robust, stable, consistent, and secure enterprise environments - Experience with PowerHA Cluster, Veritas Cluster, Oracle RAC Cluster, IBM Shared Storage Pool Cluster - Experience with Live Partition Mobility - Working experience with vSphere systems administration and support including VMotion, HA, vCenter, storage migrations - Experience with vSphere problem determination, capacity planning and root cause analysis - Working experience with vSphere Thin Provisioning, Resource Pools, Host Profiles, and 3rd party plug-ins - Strong understanding of large-scale DevOps and implementation experience with automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems - Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience - Ability to use data to measure success and the quality of services delivered - Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently for on-time delivery - Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment, adaptable to changing priorities, and the willingness & initiative to learn
