Job Description

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. The Capability Delivery Platform (CDP) provides DevOps tools and pipelines for internal unclassified software development in support of multiple customers and various missions at the IL4 level. Operating in AWS GovCloud, our offering consists of Atlassian Products, GitLab, Sonatype Nexus, and SonarQube. The Software Developer Sr. Advisor is responsible for building, maintaining, operating, automating, and data migration activities of the DevOps tools and pipelines. In this role you will build a platform that delivers DevOps capabilities for software development projects. This role reports to the CDP Team Lead in the Intel and Homeland Security Division’s Chief Technology Office.

The role responsibilities include:

  • Build
    • Plan and execute the initial, highly available, instances of DevOps tools within AWS GovCloud utilizing cloud platform services where practical.
    • Configure CDP applications including application branding, customization application default behavior, and implementing configurations to support enterprise operations such as LDAP, NTP, Heath and Status monitoring, and data/config backups.
  • Migrate
    • Plan and execute data migration from previous applications to new instances. For example, migrate Jira projects from a previous Jira instance to the new instance without data loss. Likewise, for GitLab and other CDP offered capabilities.
    • Recreate software development pipelines in CDP to include any application-to-application required integrations.
    • Mitigate impact to users as identity management changes and ensure configured access control meets security requirements and program needs.
  • Maintain
    • Apply application updates and patches on a parodic and ad hoc basis following the patch management policy and ensuring new functionality is available while balancing system availability and critical program mission deliverables.
    • Configure and test application-level backups.
    • Monitor and adjust cloud infrastructure for group to maintain user and pipeline performance targets.
    • Keep system documentation updated as necessary.
    • Address any configuration required to mitigate security concerns or support security controls.
    • Perform proactive maintenance activities to ensure highly available services.
  • Operate
    • Create new DevOps pipelines and review/implement program/project required changes.
    • Make configuration changes to support program mission needs.
  • Automate
    • Automate CDP operations, maintenance, and migration activities and functions as appropriate to improve the capability, efficiency, and customer delivery time.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

The candidate must possess the following skills:

  • Expert in two of the following applications covering installation, configuration, operations, maintenance; Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Sonatype Nexus, and SonarQube.
  • Expert in selective data migration from existing instances to new instances of at least two of the following applications: Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Sonatype Nexus, and SonarQube.
  • Advanced experience with the software development process and at least three years building automated software development pipelines.
  • At least eight years of software development experience.
  • At least five years in configuring and maintaining modern automated software development pipelines.
  • At least three years of experience in operations automation.
  • Familiarity with AWS capabilities and general cloud concepts.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts to include NAT, application proxies/load balancers, TCP/IP, and routing.
  • Functional understanding of identity management and access control concepts.
  • Functional understanding of application Heath and Status monitoring.

Additional Requirements:

  • The willingness and ability to obtain and hold a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's or ten years or more experience with training and/or certifications.
