GDIT has an opportunity for a Senior Software Architect - Engineer to join our team supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Chronic Conditions Warehouse Virtual Research Data Center (CCW/VRDC) The CCW/VRDC is a research database providing researchers with Medicare and Medicaid beneficiary, claims, and assessment data linked by beneficiary across the continuum of care. 

As the multi-year migration to the cloud concludes; additional ideation is required to develop value added on-contract growth opportunities for the CCW/VRDC.

This is a remote opportunity. Candidates must reside in the US.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the existing Chronic Conditions Warehouse / Virtual Research Data Center (CCW /VRDC) team by ideation and research of areas outside of the current implementation of the CCW / VRDC.

  • Conduct architectural oversight reviews, market research, and studies that identify:

  • Improvements that would result in optimization of ongoing O&M costs

  • Improvements that would result in improved availability and consistency of operation, or enhancements in user experience

  • Introduction of new features that provide future pathways toward improved data governance and data dissemination

  • Support the writing and business case development of white papers and/or presentations of any topics above agreed to be the CCW Leadership team

  • Incorporate concepts of the architectural improvements into a future focused roadmap

  • Develop any pilots or proof of concepts necessary to determine the viability of any potential improvements or introductions

  • Develop proposal material to support any on-contract modifications, repricing or tangential opportunities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s in an unrelated field with at least 10+ years of software development experience. A relevant master’s degree is a plus.

  • 5+ years’ experience working with data elements, data modeling, user documentation, and data collection

  • High proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

  • Experience with telecommuting, working from a home office

  • Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and proficiency with Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms

  • 5+ years’ experience working with claims data and reporting

  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Experience with dimensional modeling techniques and their applications

  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, JAVASCRIPT, PYTHON used in data processing and modeling tasks

  • Ability to operate with general direction/minimal supervision

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including issue resolution, and conflict management

The likely salary range for this position is $156,000 - $234,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
