Software Engineer

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Software Engineer supporting the customer, you will be trusted to advice on software development and Software design support to replace a highly complex Lotus Notes system with a new web-based architecture. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Work with Systems Engineer and Developers to develop detail designs and translate and decompose requirements to migrate a Notes based system to a new web based architecture.
  • Work both independently and in an agile team environment.
  • Assist in the development of methodologies and techniques that will be used by other developers to solve specific problems.
  • Assist in the development of coding standards and participate in code reviews and code walk through.
  • Analyze and study complex system requirements.
  • Develop and implement web applications and/or web services using object-oriented programming with a focus on building RESTful services to support the User Interface (UI), the middle tier, as well as implementing support for SQL and NoSQL databases.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 11 years related experience.
  • Technical Skills: JAVA, Sprint, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Microservices and integrating with external systems using rest api.
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
  • Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Java development skills (within the last 2 years) using Spring and Hibernate or REST services.

Provides advanced knowledge and guidance on the software or system process for optimal documentation and future maintenance and updates.

May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts.

May serve as a mentor to less experienced analysts.

May serve as team or task lead. (Not a people manager)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience.
