General Dynamic Information Technology’s (GDIT’s) has an opportunity for a Lead DevSecOps Engineer working within the Defense Division, supporting an exciting new DoD program in Ft. Meade, Maryland. We are seeking a technologist with proven experience in large scale DoD environments improving the lead time and frequency of deliverables through enhanced engineering practices.  The Lead DevSecOps Engineer will work with complex systems supporting rapid development and test activities integrating with Government test environments. 

Detailed duties include:

  • Adopting and ensuring compliance with an iterative and/or agile development process
  • Innovative design, engineering, and integration support for new and existing capabilities
  • Support the development of tools, analytics, and visualization capabilities
  • Assist in creating and sustaining a Continuous Integration Environment (CIE)
  • Collaborate with development, security and IT operations

Detailed duties, technologies, techniques and frameworks incudes:

  • Knowledge and experience in CI/CD, infrastructure as code and immutable infrastructure concepts
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, Structured Query Language (SQL), XML technologies and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and Yet Another Markup Language (YAML)
  • Knowledge and ability to develop in at least one full-featured programming language like Python, Java, Gradle
  • Expertise in modern software architecture frameworks, cloud-native design for scalability and observability, API and service oriented architecture and design patterns including expertise in developing container configuration and “pod” files for technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and Helm
  • Hand-on experience engineering from ground up a full stack CI/CD capability including use of: version control (e.g. Git); Pipeline Automation and Orchestration (e.g. GitLab / Jenkins); Quality and Security automated testing tools; and cloud and infrastructure automation
  • Shell and other scripting development using a variety of tools including: Bash, PowerShell
  • Best practice use of Command Line Interface (CLI) tools like Amazon Web Service (AWS) API CLI, and Hashicorp Terraform / Vagrant / Packer
  • Detailed experience and proficiency with Configuration management automation tools like Ansible / Ansible Tower or SALTStack
  • Expertise in developing and calling web services (Representational State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), etc.) APIs and frameworks
  • Knowledge of applying DISA STIG automation and Continuous Compliance techniques highly preferred
  • Knowledge of designing and developing CI/CD constructs for “MLOps” and automation for AI/ML analytic development highly preferred
  • Significant experience working with Enterprise level customers
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills


MA or MS in a technical discipline


At least 10 years' experience supporting operations for a global organization

Minimum of IAT Level II certification required – CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND or SSCP

Significant experience working with Enterprise level customers

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Clearance level: Top Secret required
