We are seeking a Systems Engineer Expert to support the Enterprise Management System (EMS) solution on our Justice Programs team in Washington, DC.  In this position, you will support the Service Operations Unit (SOU) of the Enterprise Cybersecurity Section (ECS) in the FBI Information Technology Application Data Division (ITADD). Support will be provided during normal business hours Monday through Friday, Eastern Standard Time (EST), excluding Federal holidays. 


The  Systems Engineer Expert is a top-level position for our EMS Tools team. In this capacity, the Engineer performs customer deliverable implementations, upgrades and enhancements, operations, and maintenance (O&M), and training.  In this role, you will provide architectural, engineering and administration knowledge, and experience to the Enterprise Management System solution, tools and related components for monitoring the IT Infrastructure across multiple enclaves. 

Administration: Administration of the EMS tools and solution includes but is not limited to: 

  • Leading activities and tasks to manage and maintain availability, health, and performance of the EMS tools at acceptable Service Levels using proven day-to-day processes and procedures   

  • Leveraging automation (e.g., utilities, programs, or scripts) and standards as part of the administration and enhancements of the tools and related components  

Operations and Maintenance (O&M): The Systems Engineer Expert’s experience also provides daily “care and feeding” of the EMS tools including but not limited to:   

  • Sharing knowledge as needed to other EMS team members, regardless of contract or government status 

  • Training IT staff to use the EMS tools as needed 

  • Provide troubleshooting skills and problem resolution of tool related incidents and problems 

  • Recommend, carry out and lead projects under the guidance of the EMS Technical Architect or government lead to improve performance of the tools, to bring mission critical apps under management, to continually improve processes and procedures, and perform routine application or hardware install/upgrades. Configuration and change activities for enhancements are included in this activity as well. 

  • Evaluate new software under consideration and provide expert opinion at the request of the customer 

  • Configure alerts to meet user needs and requirements 

  • Additionally, O&M support will be provided on an occasional basis outside these hours, either arranged in advance or in support of critical incidents. Support will include, but is not limited to these activities:  

  • Patching of operating systems and applications  

  • Perform routine maintenance including but not limited to:  

  • monitoring daily operational status of the tools 

  • coordinating requirements with other teams within and external to the ITADD Division. 

Skills/Experience:   Systems Engineer Expert experience will include familiarity with IT Operations Management (ITOM) and Network Operations Management (NOM) Tool Suites and other EMS tools listed below.   

  • (Required) The Engineer must have experience in one or more of the following tool areas: 

  • ScienceLogic (SL1) 

  • SL1 deployments 

  • Network Node Manager (NNMi) and iSPIs 

  • NNMi deployments 

  • Network Automation (NA) 

  • NA deployments 

  • Red Hat Linux (RHEL) 7.6 OS and later 

  • Preferred but not required: 

  • Cisco ACS or Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) (preferred) 

  • Windows 2016 and later OS experience is a plus 

  • Virtual environments is a plus 

  • uCMDB (is a plus but not required)  

  • RestorePoint (is a plus but not required) 

  • Entuity (is a plus but not required)
