Our work depends on a SeniorPower BI Developer joining our team to support the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the United States Postal Service (USPS) activities at Arlington, VA, or Remote.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Power BI Developer supporting OIG for the USPS, you will be trusted to work on dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and using other knowledge such as data visualization and languages (such as SQL, SAS, R, and/or Python).
In this role, a typical day will include:
Primary focus on business intelligence and reporting technologies/methodologies
Perform data manipulation and cleansing to prepare datasets for visualization
Assist in the delivery of quality solutions using Microsoft Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) and related technologies
Partner with OIG customers and OCIO technical team members to assist with requirements definitions, solution designs, technical architecture, and delivery
Work collaboratively with team members including project managers, solution architects, and business analysts
Implement solutions using Microsoft Power BI tool suite and related technologies
Proficient in the use of Data Analytics Expressions (DAX) and Power Query
Proficient in PowerShell scripting
Understand the administrative functions for Power BI, Managing data gateway, usage reports, etc.
Leverage database systems including data warehouses, data marts, and models needed for business, financial, and operational analysis and/or reporting
Develop high performing, reliable, and scalable solutions
Clearly communicate technical details to business and management staff
Perform data analysis which supports and enhances OIG information management systems and services
Experience with one or more data technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Data Warehouse, SQL Server, etc.) and a willingness to learn how to leverage these technologies to improve business intelligence
Author and oversee design documents for approved projects
Develop reports, dashboards & scorecards, data exploration, and visual analytics using existing and emerging technologies and tools
Provide meaningful feedback and coaching of other team members in the use of Microsoft Power BI and related technologies
Provide insight and recommendations on new and emerging technologies and concepts to OCIO team members
Eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
This is what you will need for the role:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in business intelligence and/or information management
A minimum of four (4) years of experience with data visualization and implementing high-value solutions; experience performing administrative activities across multi-environment infrastructures
At least five (5) years of experience working in a client-facing technical role
Expert knowledge of data management, business intelligence, and analytics concepts including: extract, transform, load (ETL); Data warehousing, data marts, data stores, and cubes; data quality and profiling; data governance, data management, and metadata management; data visualization, dashboard design / implementation, reporting, self-service BI, data KPIs, and scorecards; predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive analytics
Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: SQL, SAS, R, Python
Additional requirements for this role:
Partner with the Office of Investigations and OCIO technical team members to deliver quality Power BI reports to support the USPS OIG’s mission of ensuring efficiency, accountability, and integrity in the U.S. Postal Service
Work directly with OIG’s law enforcement stakeholders to understand business processes and metrics related to complex federal criminal, civil and administrative investigations
Responsible for end-to-end development of new Power BI reports and maintaining and updating existing reports
Experienced in writing advanced SQL queries; for the creation of views/tables, functions, and stored procedures
Skilled for query performance tuning and writing ad-hoc queries
Engage with end users to gather requirements, understand them, and turn them into engaging visuals in Power BI
Collaborate with database engineers and application engineers when there are changes or issues related to data sets feeding the Power BI reports
Experienced implementing and managing row level security
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills for translating data into informative visuals and reports
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
This individual may provide support remotely without mileage limitations; if local to Arlington, VA, the person may be asked to come into the office occasionally in the future. Preference will not be given to a local or remote individual
Please Note: The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
