General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Programmer/Analyst in Wilkes-Barre PA to join our team supporting the USPS.


As an Oracle PL/SQL Programmer/Analyst you will:

  • Applies extensive expertise in PL/SQL
  • Solves complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Performs work without need for direct supervision
  • Makes sound decisions that achieve critical organizational objectives
  • Designs, evaluates, selects, implements, and supports database structures and previous experience redesigning data systems and processes
  • Analyzes information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities
  • Reviews requests for data and data usage, research new and/or better data feeds, coordinate new data developments ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structures
  • Coordinates testing of designed applications, design dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading and managing database applications
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on data integrity, performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, and continuous efforts to improve performance and functionality

Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


Strong knowledge of several of the following skillsets for a minimum of ten (10) years of experience with the following:

• SQL, PL/SQL (experience including but not limited to the creation of packages, procedures, tables views, functions, etc)
• Build/maintain efficient database tables structure for both transactional and warehouse data
• PL/SQL tuning
• Oracle partitioning practices and data archival structures and processes
• Oracle (11g and 12c)
• SQL Developer
• Experience developing/tuning Oracle for use with Micro-Strategy, Standard Web Design and Responsive WebDesign
• Automated Testing Tools & Dev Ops
• MS Office Suite


Working knowledge of one of more of the following qualifications:
• Ability to translate business requirements to database structure
• Ability to communicate a database design to development staff
• Knowledge/experience with Agile Methodologies
• Ability to prepare cost estimates
• Knowledge/experience of SDLC practices
• Strong facilitation skills to effectively lead discussions across multiple groups
• Change Management and Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, etc)
