The engineer must be organized and maintain cable infrastructure labeling standards and shall neatly run, bundle and secure the cable and fiber optic runs IAW developed policies, regulations, and procedures. Acquire the necessary equipment and supplies via the contract procurement processes and procedures and be able to track and provide customers with status updates. Actively participate in meetings and brief on the status of all network services and projects whenever necessary, as requested. Perform Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) IAW Cable Distribution Standards (CDS) and upload results into IT Service Management (ITSM) or route through the government customer as required. Support accreditation efforts and physical security inspections. Provide cable management to add, move, install, and troubleshoot inside cable plant including copper and fiber infrastructure in accordance with applicable standards (CDS, ISEC standards). Provide cable management for classified data networks and Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) to ensure they meet applicable security specifications (RED/BLACK Installation Guidelines in accordance with the NSTISSAM TEMPEST Memorandum). Assist the VoIP Network Engineer with network management and ensure the network is properly configured and operating efficiently while ensuring constant network availability and 100% network uptime. Provide pro-active network management of switches, routers, and other ancillary devices to ensure a constant state of readiness and availability. Configure and manage Cisco VoIP systems and ensure the network is protected and secure Schedule and perform preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on a regularly scheduled basis and provide touch labor service support as needed. Provide Communication Security (COMSEC) support for the organization. Properly handle and safeguard Controlled Cryptographic Items in accordance with Army Regulations and local security policies. Provide support as the COMSEC hand receipt holder to include requisition, accountability, issuance, key management, destruction and associated records management. Assist the team with logistics support as required.
Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.
Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.
Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
Minimum SECRET/SSBI with ability to obtain TS/SCI as required A BS/BA is preferred, 5+ years of experience, plus relevant and related military/government experience performing network engineering and administration support is required. Experience in IT project management is desired. A current IAT II Certification is required at time of hire. A CCNP, CCDA, or CCDP or equivalent industry certification is required.
