For the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), GDIT provides enterprise IT services for DHS’s biometric identity management system (IDENT) and the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) to store, match, share, and analyze biometric and biographic data in support of DHS’s strategic mission. GDIT’s O&M services support break-fix of current OBIM functional capabilities, as well as security remediation activities and developmental engineering (such as prototyping new code or configurations of OBIM functionality). GDIT is looking for a manager to lead the Release and Deployment Team with planning and deploying software releases and system maintenance activities in production and non-production environments. Other specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Managing team of Deployment Managers and their work • Coordinating multiple parallel deployment efforts to accommodate customer schedules and minimize system impact • Working with technical teams to determine deployment scope and impact • Tracking all problems and changes in deployment plan documents and reporting changes and current configuration • Compiling deployment tasks into a plan, focused on minimizing system interruption and downtime • Establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives • Coordinating technical team resources for participation in deployment execution • Providing configuration management planning for system deployments. Coordinates the change process for deployments so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into the production system • Providing technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Directs and controls activities for a client, having overall responsibility for management, methods, and staff coordination to ensure that technical requirements are met • Briefing OBIM customer, technical teams, and impacted stakeholders on deployment scope, timing, and duration. Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management • Managing deployment execution via conference bridge and online meeting and conferencing tools • Streamlining deployment planning and execution processes through automation and scripting • Using decision making and domain knowledge to positively impact overall project implementation • Prepare reports showing upcoming and completed deployment information. Distribute reports to internal and external stakeholders periodically and as needed
Required Skills / Qualifications: • U.S. citizenship • DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of related experience • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Experience leading technical teams in planned activities on a conference bridge and using online meeting and conferencing tools • Expertise with Microsoft Excel
Desired Skills / Qualifications: • Masters degree or 15+ years of related experience • Degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, systems engineering, or related field of study • Professional experience in systems, computer, and/or network engineering supporting large-scale enterprise IT systems • Previous experience with the OBIM IDENT system • Configuration management experience • Working knowledge of Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Database, and TIBCO BW/EMS software • Strong understanding of networking architecture • Developing Microsoft Excel formulas • Knowledge of SharePoint • Developing Visual Basic scripts • Experience with network administration and troubleshooting
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To protect the health and safety of its employees and to comply with customer requirements, GDIT may require employees in certain positions to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Vaccination requirements will depend on the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements.
The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
