Job Description

GDIT has partnered with NASA to consolidate select Procurement, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center located at Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi.

The NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) mission is to provide timely, accurate, high quality, cost-effective, and customer focused support for selected NASA business and technical services.  

GDIT has an opportunity at the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) for an HR Suitability Specialist to contribute to our success in Suitability Adjudication Services for NASA.  This will be a full-time position onsite at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Remote work may be considered for candidates with specialized experience.

The Human Resources Suitability Specialist will support the NASA Suitability Program in accordance with NASA, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) regulations and guidelines as well as Title 5 Code of Federal Regulation Part 731. The Specialist will provide functional and administrative support in the suitability processing and recommendation stages. This includes:

  • Suitability screening, including identifying applicants/appointees and validating the need for investigation.
  • Initiating appropriate level personnel security investigations or accepting reciprocity as appropriate.
  • Identifying appointees/employees and validating the need for a reinvestigation or an investigation upgrade due to a change in position risk level.
  • Coordinating communications with Center HR, Center Security, Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO), Office of Protective Services (OPS), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and the Central Adjudication Facility (CAF).
  • Preparing adjudications for NASA review in accordance with OPM directives and recommending adjudication decisions.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Human Resources or Personnel Security experience required.
  • Successful completion of the National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB) Essentials of Suitability Adjudication Program (ESAP).
  • Knowledge of functions, operations, policies, and procedures in order to make informed judgements in planning, executing, and evaluating suitability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to effectively explain policies and procedures related to suitability.
  • Candidate must be able to clear a High-Risk Public Trust – Background Investigation (BI) – (Tier 4).
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
