General Dynamics is seeking an enterprise network architect.
Chosen individual will work as part of a team of highly experienced engineers under the direction of the Enterprise Architect.
You will be responsible for network architecture and solution design for data communication networks for a customer enterprise across multiple sites, in multiple countries, supporting thousands of users.
Will work collaboratively with others on the Architecture team such as the Cybersecurity Architect, the IT Infrastructure Architect, and Application Architect and under the direction of the LEAD Enterprise Architect in ensuring new capabilities and services are compliant with overall enterprise architecture.
The successful candidate for this position needs to have a wide and deep understanding of both mission systems and technologies. Must possess technical, business, and industry knowledge to come up with technical solutions while taking into consideration industry best practices, models, and frameworks.
As an enterprise network architect, you evaluate customers long-term strategy and mission requirements to guide the development of future network architecture. Must have strong communication skills and be comfortable documenting and communicating the solution via system, application, process, and data views using DoDAF or another Enterprise Architecture framework to actively guide the integration team to success.
Network architect will provide technical oversight on all network related projects to assess technological risks and make sure that the described solution proves to be consistent with all aspects of enterprise architecture while meeting all the necessary customer requirements.
Will coordinate ongoing activities and translate the architecture design concept to IT operations. Thus, in their assigned role, network architects work closely with project managers, network integrators, and operations to make sure that everyone involved in project implementing a solution, including the stakeholders, are on the same page and move in the right direction throughout all phases.
Planning and designing data communication networks
Presenting network plans to management staff
Overseeing the network implementation process, including setting schedules and budgets
Managing information and network security
Implementing upgrades to hardware and software as needed
Performing maintenance and repairs to network equipment
Keeping documentation of networks, including drawings, descriptions and configurations
Researching network technologies and staying up to date on advancements in the field
Identifies solutions based on business and technical criteria, analyzes alternatives based on trade space, and implements designs
Research current and emerging technologies and process methodologies and proposes changes and tailoring where needed
Assesses the system and business process architectures currently in place and works with staff to recommend improvements
Ensures technical architecture teams deliver efficient and effective system solutions to support business goals and objectives
Develops, enhances, and maintains established service design procedure and process by applying process frameworks and methodologies
Prepares and presents test plan, technical presentations, and analyst briefings
Identifies customer requirements, analyzes alternatives, and conducts product recommendations related to software, platform, and network configurations
Provides updates to stakeholders on project cost, schedule, and quality in comparison to stakeholder objectives
May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
May serve as a team or task lead
Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in network architecture
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr)
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Eligible for TS/SCI
BA/BS or equivalent in lieu of degree an equivalent amount of experience will be considered.
