Serves as a Tier 1 Network Monitor for the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing Security Office and the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Processing, Exploitation, Dissemination (PED) Operations Center (DOC).

The Monitor conducts fault management to detect, isolate, and correct abnormal network and information processing system component behavior on a 24-hours-a-day, seven (7) days-a-week. Providing seamless DOC help desk support is essential for all problems reported to the DOC to ensure trouble tickets are escalated to the next skill tier incidence response level for further technical analysis, troubleshooting and closeout with the originator. The expertise and training within each function required at each tier level is specialized and requires precise synchronization at each incidence response level, but due to the interrelationship and partnerships within the functions and tiers, it is critical to have a single, accountable entity with overall responsibility for each action taken in all troubleshooting, configuration management, security and system upgrades processes and procedures.

The Monitor also:

  • Monitors all nodes for operational integrity
  • Responds to trouble calls
  • Initiate and maintain trouble tickets
  • Isolates network problems
  • Populates and examines trouble and error logs for troubleshooting and capturing metrics
  • Provides technical support to resolve the problem or escalate to the appropriate level
  • Monitors and administers network tools for troubleshooting and metrics for trends analysis
  • Logs all network issues and maintains a database of problems, errors, and maintenance in such a way to easily generate reports for trend analysis
  • Provides technical support in data network planning, engineering, and design
  • Reports all trouble calls upon receipt to the Mission Crew Commander in the DOC and provides hourly updates until resolution unless otherwise directed by the DOC Crew Commander
  • Provides quarterly metrics illustrating trends and workload to the MCC in the form of a PowerPoint presentation
  • Provide input in support of the Monthly Status Report (MSR) detailing accomplishments and issues in performance of task

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of network operations experience.
  • TS/SCI
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Shift Work Required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AF DCGS and AF ISR operations is desired.
