GDIT is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support NIWCPAC Code 53500 in San Diego, CA.
Our work depends on a Senior Systems Engineer joining our team to provide both technical COMSEC engineering support as well as administrative and management aspects of Advanced Tactical Data Links (TDL) for our US Navy client. Join us as we help our Navy defend our country and advance the defensive capabilities of our allies. You will also work as part of a small collaborative team in delivering MIDS, Low Volume Terminal (LVT), JTRS, and TTNT COMSEC training to US and foreign military, integration facility engineers, and industry partners.
This position requires 25% OCONUS travel and candidates must have valid U.S. passport
In this role a typical day would include:
Provide Communication Security (COMSEC) engineering support to the Multifunction Information Distribution System (MIDS) Program Office for MIDS, Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), and Tactical Targeting and Networking Technology (TTNT).
Conduct Simple Key Loader (SKL) User Application Software (UAS) testing and user training.
Provide MIDS, Low Volume Terminal (LVT), JTRS, and TTNT COMSEC training to US and foreign military, integration facility engineers and industry partners, as required.
Conduct Host Initialization File (HIF) and Mission Planning File (MPF) encryption for all MIDS/JTRS/TTNT platforms for both NIWC-based and industry testing.
Provide real-time testing and troubleshooting of Link-16 COMSEC equipment use.
Provide oversight and support to the NIWC PAC Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) room.
Perform MIDS JTRS software package NSA signature encryptions.
Support MIDS Program Office Information Assurance (IA) team meetings.
Respond and manage requests for Navy Link-16 legacy and crypto modernized keying material for US military, industrial partners, and international allies.
Qualifications:
Active Top Secret
This position requires 25% OCONUS travel and candidates must have valid U.S. passport
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics
Minimum of 5 years tactical systems analyst experience in DOD tactical communication systems projects. An additional 3 years of experience (more than the 5 specified above) may be substituted for the education requirement
Current tactical communication system analysis experience (within the last 2 years) in Tactical Communications Systems to include TDL, ATDL, SDR, and/or related C4I systems.
Ability to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) related to Information Assurance (IA) evaluations involving Communications Security (COMSEC) and Cryptologic Material Systems (CMS) for ATDL systems.
Demonstrated experience in engineering and support of the MIDS Cryptographic Modernization (CM) efforts for MIDS JTRS waveforms Link-16 Tactical Communications systems and TTNT.
Demonstrated in-depth experience supporting U.S and Foreign Military Tactical Hardware Defined Radios (HDR) and Software Defined Radios (SDR) Systems for training and technical data calls in relation to cryptographic subsystems on the MIDS family of TDL Systems.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work on-site NIWC Pacific, Point Loma San Diego, CA
Desired experience:
Experience with the MIDS JTRS Cryptographic Modernization Program to include National Security Agency (NSA) requirements for Tactical Communication Systems with experience in Communications Security (COMSEC) and Cryptologic Material Systems (CMS).
Experience supporting the fielding of modernized cryptographic systems.
TDL/ATDL troubleshooting; analyzing requirements; requirements traceability; functional and performance T&E planning and execution.

U.S. Citizenship Required
The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
