GDIT is seeking a Network Engineering Lead to support our organizations infrastructure engineering team in Bethesda, Maryland.  In this role you will support the Network Engineering Manager, as well as provide technical leadership and direction to a team of approximately 20 network engineers. This team is responsible for maintaining a highly available MPLS Service Provider based network, meeting the unique requirements of the National Institutes of Health scientific research community, hospitals, and Institutes and Centers.

We expect this position to be primarily remote but you should be within commuting distance to Bethesda in order to attend meetings or other onsite requirements as needed.


  • Managing Engineering team performance in areas, including incidents, tasks, projects, and Tier III escalation.
  • Supporting network service restoration when services are interrupted or degraded
  • Providing technical input into the network design, planning, and execution for customer strategic initiatives
  • Providing oversight and quality control for engineering change management
  • Supporting the development of test plans for all new architectures or new technologies
  • Managing inventory and life cycle management of network infrastructure devices  
  • Managing engineering team in areas of vulnerability management, audit findings and providing remediation plans
  • Monitoring technology advancements, including infrastructure and management that will provide improved functionality, availability, and performance
  • Producing weekly activity reports and monthly status reports, including accomplishments, planned activities, performance, etc.


  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in network services supporting routing and switching in LAN/WAN, Data Center, and Wireless environments
  • Minimum of 10 years experience leading a comparable team
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an NIH Public Trust


  • CCIE Routing & Switching
  • ITIL  Foundation certification
