Job Description

TACLANE Engineer

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a TACLANE Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on TACLANE Engineer joining our team to design and development and implementation of data, voice, and/or video communications networks.

How a TACLANE Engineer will make an impact:

  • Install, configure, and maintain GDIT TACLANE and other crypto devices.

  • Responsible for the network design and determining the level of effort associated with the development of data, voice, and/or video, and/or communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.

  • Documents solutions in Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) and other various documents.

  • Submits proposed designs to Engineering Review Board and responds to questions.

  • Schedules authorized outages to implement proposed solutions.

  • May work odd hours to minimize customer impact.

  • Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.

  • Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

  • Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

  • May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.

  • May perform network administration duties.

  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED – REQUIRED:

  • Clearance : Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility

  • Certifications:

  • --- Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements - one Level II certification AND one Computing Environment (CE) certification.

  • --- Must be able to achieve ITIL Foundation and Security+ (or equivalent) Certification within six months of hire.

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

  • Year's Experience: BS and 5 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design. (will consider other years of experience, education or certifications).

  • Skills & Abilities: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.

  • Location: Onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA
